BACKGROUND
This matter was introduced on first reading by the City Council at their March 5, 2024, meeting. The ordinance ensures the regulations therein are consistent with current standards and suited to current conditions and circumstances in the City of Chino. The City is a participating community in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the updates ensure the current floodplain management regulations meet or exceed the NFIP. By law, the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) cannot offer flood insurance in communities that do not have regulations that meet or exceed these minimum requirements.
