BACKGROUND
The City Council may appoint any person to the position of City Treasurer who is qualified to assume the powers and to perform the duties of the position. Chino Municipal Code Section 2.040.070 (A) authorizes the City Council to appoint the City Treasurer. Historically, City Council has appointed the Director of Finance as the City Treasurer.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
On March 10, 2025, the City of Chino hired a new Finance Director. To ensure the continuity of business and financial transactions, it is recommended that City Council appoint the new Director of Finance as the City Treasurer. Therefore, staff recommends that City Council adopt Resolution No. 2025-011, appointing the Director of Finance as the City Treasurer.
