BACKGROUND

The Community Services, Parks & Recreation (CSPR) Commission is a seven-member commission, which acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council and the CSPR Department on issues that contribute to improving the quality of life in Chino. These issues are focused in the areas of Recreation, Human Services, Parks, and Open Space.

Pursuant to Section 2.38.30 of the Chino Municipal Code, CSPR Commission members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.

ISSUES/ANALYSIS

The City Clerk’s Office initiated the solicitation of applications from Council Districts 1 and 2 on June 26, 2026, to fill an unscheduled vacancy on the CSPR Commission for the remainder of the unexpired term of ending June 30, 2027, due to the resignation of Particia Pereda Arlt.

The application period closed on August 7, 2026, and a total of two applications were received.

Mayor Ulloa and Mayor Pro Tem Burton interviewed one applicant from Council District 1, and one applicant from Council District 2. This resulted in the following recommended appointment:

Natalie Sanders appointment for a term ending June 30, 2027

Pursuant to Chino Municipal Code (CMC) Section 2.38.30 appointments to the Commission are made by the Mayor with approval of the City Council.
