BACKGROUND

The City of Chino is fortunate to have multiple non-profits and community groups dedicated to serving the public and preserving Chino’s unique history. To assist in their ongoing efforts, the City Council from time to time authorizes expenditures from the City’s community support fund. These expenditures serve a valid public purpose by helping to continue the outstanding services that these organizations provide to our community.

ISSUES/ANALYSIS

To continue this tradition, Mayor Pro Tem Comstock recommends that the City Council approve the following contributions:

•                     Chino Youth Museum - Bingo Bash ($250): Provides interactive learning for youth to foster a better understanding of tomorrow through appreciation of yesterday and today.

•                     Chino National Little League ($500): Provides a safe environment for Chino youth to learn and play baseball while also developing leadership and teamwork skills.

•                     Soroptimist International of the Chino Valley ($250): Seeks to empower woman and girls by providing a number of educational opportunities, programs, and resources.

•                     St. Margaret Mary School - St. Margaret Mary Annual Car Show ($250): Offers excellence in academics with a family-valued environment, providing positive contributions in and around Chino.

By approving these contributions, these groups will be better equipped to provide services to the Chino community. Therefore, as proposed by Mayor Pro Tem Comstock, staff recommends that the City Council approve the community support contributions to Chino Youth Museum, Chino National Little League, Chino Valley Soroptimist, and St. Margaret Mary School Car Show.
