BACKGROUND

The Fiscal Year 2024-25 Building Management Fund budget provides funding for design services, purchasing, and installation of modular furniture in City-owned facilities.  New Tangram, LLC is the City’s approved contractor that possesses the knowledge, certifications, and expertise to complete all related services for modular furniture.  The existing furniture in several City facilities was installed in the 1990s and is discontinued making it difficult to build additional workstations and to complete needed repairs.

Included in the current fiscal year’s budget are several Internal Service Fund (ISF) projects for space planning, design services, purchase, and installation of new furniture and/or reconfiguration of existing workstations.

ISSUES/ANALYSIS

To date, New Tangram, LLC has a vendor cap of $50,000.  The requested increase of $200,000 for design services, purchase and/or installation of furniture, and reconfiguring existing workstations brings the total vendor cap for New Tangram, LLC to $250,000.  City Council authorization is required as the combined total of purchase orders will exceed $50,000 authorized to one vendor.
