body

FISCAL IMPACT

The estimated annual expenditure is $16,675 from the Development Services Department’s full-time salary budget. Funds exist in the Department’s budget to cover this expense for Fiscal Year 2024/25. No additional appropriation is necessary due to salary savings from a temporarily vacant position.

BACKGROUND

California Government Code Section 20636 and California Code of Regulations Section 570.5 outline certain requirements pertaining to employee compensation and related information that must be available for public viewing. Periodically, compensation information may change, and related information will need to be updated. Not only does this information satisfy legal requirements, but it also fosters greater transparency by making this information available on-demand.

ISSUES/ANALYSIS

An update to the Classification and Compensation Schedule is needed as the result of the position of Building Official not existing as a stand-alone classification at the time the Classification and Compensation Study Position Description Questionnaires were completed. Because the position did not exist, it was reevaluated and changes are now recommended.

The proposed revision to the Schedule is as follows:

•                     Building Official salary range adjusted retroactively to the pay period which includes July 1, 2024.

o                     Current Salary Range: $9,526 - $12,598 monthly

o                     Corrected Salary Range: $10,777 - $14,253 monthly

City Council is requested to adopt Resolution No. 2024-051 which will enact the proposed revision noted above to the City’s Classification and Compensation Schedule.
