BACKGROUND
The City of Chino provides potable water to approximately 81,000 residents. City-owned and operated groundwater wells produce approximately one-half of the City’s total potable water supply. The City owns fifteen (15) groundwater wells, nine (9) of which are currently inactive and six (6) receive treatment before storage and final distribution. The City is currently in various stages of design and construction of multiple water supply projects which will increase the City’s access to local groundwater supplies.
The State Street Reservoir is located at Benson Avenue and State Street in the City of Montclair. This is the City’s third water treatment facility. The State Street Water Treatment Project (“WA212”) will treat groundwater from Wells 12 and 14, which are currently out of service due to water quality issues. WA212 project scope also includes the rehabilitation of Wells 12 and 14.
The Well 17 Equipping Project (“WA214”) includes equipping of Well 17 with pumps, motors, and appurtenances to serve as a supply source to the recently expanded Eastside Water Treatment Facility (EWTF). After a review of existing information and a well video log, it was determined that well rehabilitation is needed to restore the capacity of the well, which must be performed prior to completing the well-equipping design.
Both projects are currently in the 90% design phase.
Due to the scale and complexity of the project construction, the City needs an experienced Construction Management firm to review contractor bids and manage day-to-day all aspects of the project construction. The firm will also handle the specialized inspections and the testing of various materials required to construct the project. In addition, the scope includes oversight of the offsite brine disposal pipeline and raw transmission main construction component.
