RECOMMENDATION
1) Award a construction contract in the amount of $56,499.20 to Mariposa Landscapes, Inc., Irwindale, CA for the Community Garden Park Irrigation and Turf Replacement project (IB238), 2) authorize expenditures of up to $5,649.00 for construction contingencies for a not-to-exceed construction contract amount of $62,148.20; and 3) authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents on behalf of the City.

BACKGROUND
The Fiscal Year 2023-24 Building Management Fund provides funding for the Community Garden Park Irrigation & Turf Replacement project (IB238). Constructed in 2016, the Community Garden Park currently has a sub-surface drip irrigation system and existing turf that have both reached the end of their efficiency lifespan and now need to be replaced.
The project scope of work for the Community Garden Park Irrigation and Turf Replacement will include removal of all existing turf and sub-surface drip irrigation system throughout the turf area. Additionally, the scope of work will also include the installation of a new overhead low-volume spray system and new sod (low water-use hybrid fescue). The new irrigation and turf will enhance the image of the park and increase maintenance efficiency.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
Staff is recommending that City Council authorize a construction contract in the amount of $56,499.20 to Mariposa Landscapes, Inc., Irwindale, CA for the purchase and installation of new irrigation and turf for the Community Garden Park Irrigation & Turf Replacement project. In addition to the contract amount, staff is requesting authorization to spend up to $5,649.00 for construction contingencies for unanticipated work, bringing the total potential construction contract to $62,148.00.
