Conduct a public hearing and approve the introduction of Ordinance No. 2025-007, amending the Title 15, Building and Construction, of the Chino Municipal Code, to be read by number and title only, and waive further reading of the Ordinance.

FISCAL IMPACT
The cost to enforce the updated codes and provide staff training has been included in the annual Building Division budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026. No other fiscal impacts are anticipated.

BACKGROUND
Every three years, the International Code Council, the California Building Standards Commission, and other professional organizations update the national building codes in consideration of new legislation, technology, materials, and procedures in the building industry. These updated codes are mandatory and published by the California State Building Standards Commission. By law, all California cities and counties must adopt and enforce the updated building codes. The City's building requirements are in Title 15 of the Chino Municipal Code that was the last updated in 2023.

California Building Standards Codes provide minimum requirements to ensure public safety and welfare in the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and structures, addressing issues like fire and life safety, structural integrity, energy efficiency, and accessibility.
