RECOMMENDATION
1) Authorize the acceptance of an award of funds from the State Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) Used Oil Payment Program (OPP14) for $13,034; 2) establish grant number G7240 for FY2023-24; 3) appropriate $13,034 to the Sanitation Fund with a corresponding appropriation in revenues; and 4) authorize the City Manager to execute the necessary documents on behalf of the City.

BACKGROUND
The state of California awards annual Used Oil Payment Program (OPP) funds to cities and counties for used oil and used oil filter recycling activities. The state awards amounts based on a per capita formula which also causes a fluctuation from year-to-year due to population change and OPP fund availability.

ISSUES/ANALYSIS
The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) has made funds available to cities and counties since the early 1990's for support and promotion of used oil and household hazardous waste programs.
